When Melanie told me that she was making Baby Celine a mini mouse costume, I was stoked for their session. Melanie is so crafty and creative; I knew that it was going to be good. It definitely was! I had such fun hanging out in their home, playing with Judah (the now older brother) and dressing up Baby Celine as she slept. MY favorite photos are the last two. Judah didn’t told get the idea of laying down with his new baby sister too well, but I absolutely love the two we managed to sneak in. I am sure these two will laugh about those photos later as adults, but for now, they are the cutest!

Thank you, Melanie and Fam, for such a great time. I can’t wait to see how your little ones grow.

I have literally known the Coyne and Cornett Family forever. I don’t think I can even remember the very first time I met them. I was small for sure. Since then us kids have turned into adults and the adults have become Grandma and Grandpa and even Great Grandma. Even though their family has grown, they haven’t changed one bit. Still fun, loving, and full of smiles. I love that!

When Krista asked me to do their family photos, I couldn’t wait. It had been so long since I had seen any of them and I was looking forward to catching up with everyone. We spent the morning in Manhattan Beach being goofy, hanging out and feeding the ducks. It couldn’t have been anymore fun.

Thank you, Coyne and Cornett Family, for letting me be a part of such a fun time! I hope it’s not years again before we see each other.

xoxo,

I was thrilled that she had finally decided to do one, and I was excited to meet everyone. I think family sessions are so important. Pictures are tangible memories; they are what you will have to look back on in the future.

It was an early Sunday morning when we met up at Griffith Park, but a beautiful one. The sun was just peaking through the trees and the grass still glistened from the night’s dew. At first, everyone was a little camera shy, but soon everyone warmed up. I had such a great time and I was glad to be a part of something special.

Thank you, Silvia and your family, for letting me capture you and your boys. I look forward to seeing everyone soon! <3

Karen and Chris are those sort of people.

I met Karen and Chris on Tuesday afternoon at a small coffee shop in our area. I always get nervous meeting new people, but it didn’t take long for us to be laughing and just enjoying our time. We discussed all of their wedding details, went over pricing and I heard all about Chris’ romantic proposal to Karen. We finally had to part ways and when we did, they said they would get back to me. I had my fingers crossed the whole time I waited to hear from them. Not only did I love their location and plans for their big day, I really just wanted to work with Chris and Karen.

Obviously, a few weeks later I got the email from Karen saying, YES! I was hired. I am so happy to share with you their engagement session we had down at fisherman’s wharf. I had such a blast and I am stoked for their wedding come Novemenber.

Thank you, Chris and Karen, for being awesome and really making this whole experience a pleasure. I can’t wait for November and looking forward to meeting up with you guys again. <3

I have tons of amazing clients that I really need to blog about, but I felt like I needed to take a small moment to acknowledge the new magic in my life – Tara*.

I have had a rough couple of weeks and one night, on my drive home from yoga, I realized that what I needed was a puppy. Maybe I didn’t really need a puppy, but no one seemed to differ in opinion with me. I took the next week or so to browse the world wide web for a small furry thing I could love and take home. I spent hours looking for the right one. The internet had a lot of offer, but I realized that I could only decide once I spent some time the puppy. I had some criteria; I did not want a Chihuahua and I did not want a dog bigger than 15lbs.

My boyfriend and I decided that on Saturday, we would go look and meet some puppies. We told ourselves we wouldn’t decide that day. I had a list of places to go based off of what I found online. Our first stop was to pick up Tara from our friend who had rescued her and was looking for a good home for her. We took Tara around with us as we visited other puppies, and out of all the ones we saw that day, Tara was the one. We decided as soon as we dropped her off with me friend.

She is cute and playful, but she loves to take naps. This was important. If I was going to be working on photos, and calling clients she would have to enjoy just sitting with me. She is a good eater, she can play fetch and she likes most dogs and people (except for my dad unfortunately). She is good for me too. I have to wake up on time, be responsible with my time and care about something else than just myself. Tara is really just what I was looking for in my life right now.

Funny thing – she is probably part Chihuahua and we aren’t entirely sure on her breed, but she could quit possible be over 15lbs. Her paws are pretty big.

Looking forward to the next 10-15 years with this pup. <3

*Tara is the name of the plantation in Gone with the Wind. My favorite movie as a child (strange I know) and favorite book as an adult.

There times when I am shooting a family and I am reminded that I wish my parents had been consistent with my sister and I taking formal pictures. It’s not that my family didn’t take any pictures of us. There are lots of pictures of us doing random thing like being covered in spaghetti or fishing with our dad. Those pictures are great, but there is something about a yearly or bi annual photo of your family that can’t compare. Especially when your kids are young. They change quickly and grow up so fast that making time to capture them each year I think is important.

So when Liliana brought in her two girls I was excited! Liliana had told me she wanted to make pictures a priority and I am glad she finally did. Thank you, Bergman Family, for being a part of our mini sessions this Valentine’s Day season. It was fun!

One thing I have learned when working with littles – you should always have a prize, a treat or some little goodie that will keep them enticed while you have them sit still and smile. For my Valentine’s Day session I decided to bring along animal crackers. A handful was wrapped in a little goodie bag for them to take home. Well, at least that was the goal.

Milo had different ideas. As soon as he walked in, he spotted them on the table. He couldn’t handle the excitement of having his very own bag of animal crackers, so we broke into the bag a little early. From there on out, Milo was full of giggles and smiles. Partly due to the sugar, but also his mom new all the right moves. It was a blast!

Thank you, Tavitian Family, for being a part of our Valentine’s Day Minis. We can’t wait to see you guys again!

There is a lot to be said for this family. So much so that it is difficult for me to know where to start. Basically the Huddles have changed my life. Two and half years ago I did not think I would be running ANY marathon let alone the L.A. Marathon. I did not think that I would be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa (by the way one of the seven tallest! I literally did not hike before then). I didn’t think I would find myself babysitting again and thoroughly enjoying it! Before all of that I was an English undergrad trying to just graduate and barely making it. I wasn’t thinking about making some sort of change in the world or myself. However, the Huddles have definitely led me on an adventure that has changed myself and others lives. It hasn’t been always easy (26.2 miles of running is never easy) and it hasn’t always been “fun” (getting dumped on the head with a kid’s smoothie is less than thrilling), but their friendship has been worth it. I have learned so much from their our times spent together (commitment, passion and love for their kids) that I feel forever in gratitude towards them.

Thank you, John, Manda and kids, for letting capture your family and making me feel like I was a part of it. You guys are the best! (and awesome)

Although I was excited about my first mini session without my sister, I was also very nervous. I usually didn’t design any of the mini sessions when my sister and I did them together. My sister and I would talk about it and I would give her suggestions, but she had the vision. It was always a good one too! So when Valentine’s Day came around, I was a a little anxious about it. However, I think it was a hit! I used a baby blue and cream striped sheet for the background, a cream colored sheet with baby blue polka dots for the frame, and strung newspaper and ruby red hearts. I also found a pair of red chairs at local shop for a great price! Everyone was really encouraging and now I can’t wait till my Spring Mini Sessions this weekend.

Thank you, Jenny and your family, for being a part of my mini sessions and I can’t wait to see you guys again. Xoxo
